Welcome to WritingPlaces

Alicia Gossman-SteevesAlicia Gossman-Steeves is a wife, mother of three boys and a step-grandmother to two girls and two boys. “Leece” is in the criminal justice system, on the right side of the bars, as a court clerk. She has also worked as a reporter for a Smallville daily, and as managing editor for three dailies and a weekly agricultural journal. Sadly, Leece became a casualty of the editorial prostitution rampant in today's print newspaper industry, and is now free-lancing.

As a writer, she has had her work published in  local publications, A Cup of Comfort Women of the Bible Devotional, and A Cup of Comfort Devotional for Mothers.  She is also working on “Jesus and the Android”, a book examining Christ and Christian spirituality in today’s wireless, high tech culture. Alicia blogs at Yahbut: Abundant Living

She is a budding photographer, using a Canon 5D MkII with a few good lenses in her bag, and a Canon 30D as second string. She is working on some photography projects concentrating on southeastern Colorado.

Before her first husband, Gordon, died of pancreatic cancer, Alicia was a stay-at-home mom, pastor’s wife and a part time correspondent for an agricultural newspaper.

She has a B.A. in Sociology from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Master’s degree in Religion with an emphasis in Spiritual Formation from Northwest Nazarene University.

In her spare time, Alicia enjoys bike riding, photography, crafting, spending time with the family, writing, cooking, baking and shopping (!). Leece rides a Gary Fisher Tassajara GS.

Mike SteevesMike's first wife, Sue, died of cancer early in 2005. While resigned to a life of miserable widowerhood, Mike stumbled across Leece, the Recovering Fundie, and found that there was another, much pleasanter option. Mike is now Leece's heathen photographer and general factotum, and finds life once again is good.

Mike served 20 years in USAF, in automatic tracking radar maintenance and operations. He served 5 Combat Skyspot tours in SEAsia, including the Cambodian and Laotian campaigns. Mike served as an instructor in the ground-directed bombing school at Bergstrom AFB. He retired in ‘88 as a Master Sergeant, then served as a police officer with the La Junta, CO PD, having begun as a reserve officer while still in USAF. Retired from LJPD in 2003 and is now the IT Systems Manager for a small community in southeastern Colorado, the heart of America's cattle country.

Before USAF, Mike went through the Naval Apprentice Program at MCAS Cherry Point, ending that as a journeyman aircraft metalsmith. Mike has a B.S. in Business Management from Ricker College. Mike has taught in Cisco's Networking Academies and in several law enforcement academies, and is still a POST-certified firearms instructor.

In blogging, Mike often goes by "CatLover." However, despite the fact that he loves cats, most days he really can't eat a whole one. Mike also blogs about their trips and other activities at View from the Pizer.

For photography, Mike likes the Canon 5D MkII with a 40D as second string.

Mike rides a Fisher X-caliber.
